WAN-IFRA mourns the passing of a respected colleague, an astute leader, and a committed player in international cooperation to develop the world press. Our thoughts are with his family. Heartfelt condolences.

Jacques Saint-Cricq joined the Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest in Tours (France) in 1967, became Technical Director in 1968, and Chairman of the Board in 1975. In 2004, he retired, and his son, Olivier Saint-Cricq, replaced him. Jacques Saint-Cricq then became Chairman of the Supervisory Board, a position he held until 2018. Jacques Saint-Cricq was the first French president of Ifra (Inca-Fiej Research Association) from 1981 to 1985. He was President (1988-97), Vice President (1997-2001), then Honorary President since 2001 of the French regional newspapers’ association (SPQR). Vice-president of the French Press National Federation, FNPF (1988-97), Director (1987-2002) then Vice-president (2002-20) of the Compagnie française des papiers de presse (CFPP), and Director of Agence France Presse (AFP) from 1978 to 1988.
